Review

Call of Juarez is a Western first person shooter game. This has nothing to do with Call of Duty. I was kind of misled by the name. The principles are pretty much the same. Just shoot people around until you get bored. With some games it takes me longer to get bored than with others. Call of Juarez is a so-so game in my opinion. The graphics are great and the controls are also really good. I didn't like one particular thing. When you zoom in with certain weapons you see a crosshair that you use for aiming. That is certainly helpful, but I would like games to get rid of it for the sake of reality. Since the game takes place during the 1900's (approximately), you can be sure that you wont have automatic weapons, medikits or any of that. It is every man for himself. There are plenty of things to see in the game, though. There are establishments with now-illegal prostitution activities and lots of duels for you to get into. Killing people for no particular reason seemed to be popular back then, and you can have a taste of that in Call of Juarez. The plot of the game is too extensive to explain here, but the single player campaign should keep you interested for a couple of days.
Advantages
  • Good graphics.
  • Good controls.
  • Lots of realistic 1900's scenarios.
Disadvantages
  • Kind of unreal aiming mechanisms.
